Campania Artecard for the MANN: the review
My verdict: This is the only one of the six cards that doesn't just cover this museum, and its rating is the lowest on the entire page, with a large enough sample that it can't be dismissed. The reason isn't a mystery: a timed card only pays off for those who visit a lot during its validity, and it must be manually activated with an action that cannot be undone. If your Naples plan is the MANN and little else, this isn't the card you need, and I'm writing this knowing full well that it's the most expensive to recommend.
The math, which is the only way to decide
Naples 3 days starts from €27 at the time of writing: three free admissions, then a reduced rate at other sites, and urban transport included. The MANN is the first name on the list of covered sites. Do the math with the real prices: the MANN costs €20, Capodimonte €15, Royal Palace €15. Three tickets like these come to fifty euros, and the card costs twenty-seven. Now do it again with your actual plan: MANN plus Certosa di San Martino, which costs €6, makes twenty-six euros in tickets. The card doesn't pay for itself, and transport alone won't save it.
The other versions, for completeness: Naples 3 days youth 18-25 at €16, Campania 3 days at €41, Campania 7 days at €43 but without transport, and the 365 Lite at €26 for one year, one admission per site across 34 sites. And if you already have the card and have used up your free admissions, you can still enter the MANN for €10. Why the rating is what it is
The positive reviews all talk about the same thing: included transport and real savings across multiple sites. These are people who used the card as intended, which means a lot. The average rating remains low because the product is unforgiving to those who improvise, and the most cited reason is the most brutal: activation cannot be undone. The passes are digital, activated manually, and once activated, the countdown starts even if the rest of the trip goes wrong.
Then there's the trap I've seen ruin more arrivals than any other: the Alibus from the airport is excluded from all Artecards. The first journey you'd make with a card that includes transport is precisely the one it doesn't include. I'll add something you should know even if you don't buy anything: the page dedicated to the MANN on the Artecard website is old, it still shows an admission price that no longer exists and outdated contact details, and it describes the Stazione Neapolis as visitable, which is closed to the public.
